Most people are surprised to find out that Ohio also has a tunnel of trees you can hike through—and it’s simply stunning in the fall. Sugarcreek MetroPark in Bellbrook, Ohio features the Osage Orange Tunnel, and it’s a magical place you need to experience for yourself. Take a look:
Known for its unique trees, this metropark in the Dayton area is an underrated gem. It's home to some beautiful fall foliage, wildflowers and some really, really old trees.
You'll find it at 4178 Conference Rd., Bellbrook, OH 45305.
There's a mix of open spaces and wooded areas, making this metropark a neat place to explore. You'll also encounter a few creek crossings.
The Osage Orange Tunnel is one of the park's most unique hidden gems. It's an unbelievably beautiful place to stop and think on a quiet evening or sunny day.
To find the tunnel, you'll hike the 1.3-mile Orange Trail.

Planted as a living fence centuries ago, this unique tunnel of trees is downright mesmerizing to walk through.
This fall would be a particularly beautiful time to check out the Osage Orange Tunnel, as the fall foliage will likely make it even more magical.
The tunnel was formed by large arching branches of old Osage orange trees, which were purposefully planted in rows in the late 1800s to serve as a farm fence.
