Cincinnati’s large downtown is entertaining and beautiful and definitely has its own charms. However, there is something nostalgically appealing about a small town, especially in the middle of fall. There are several lovely towns to visit around our area, and one of the absolute best is Madison, Indiana. This historic town is just over an hour from Cincinnati and the quaint, tree-lined streets, shops, restaurants, and events in Madison make it the perfect place for a fall day trip.
Located just over an hour down the river from Cincinnati is the historic town of Madison, Indiana. This quaint city has long been a favorite day trip destination for Cincinnatians thanks to its interesting history, local shops, restaurants, events, and scenic charm.
Madison was founded in 1809 and began to thrive thanks to the growth of the steamboat industry. If you love history, Madison is the ultimate destination with 133 blocks on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the town continues to thrive as what many consider the most beautiful small town in the Midwest.
