The Cincinnati Restaurant That Is Straight Out Of A European Village
Cincinnati is filled with unique architecture and historic buildings, many of which have been repurposed for today, but have also managed to maintain their original character. One neighborhood just east of downtown is especially known for its architecture and how it transports you across the Atlantic into an enchanting European-style Village. In the town of Mariemont, you’ll find beautiful buildings and neighborhood streets to explore, and you’ll also find an incredible restaurant: The National Exemplar. Housed on the first floor of the Mariemont Inn, this Cincinnati area restaurant is straight out of a European village.

Perfectly located in the heart of Mariemont on the first floor of the historic Mariemont Inn, The National Exemplar has been a popular neighborhood dining spot since 1983.
The restaurant and adjacent Southerby's Pub serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner within a European-style building that will make you feel as if you've stumbled across a quaint English village.
The Inn was built in the 1920s as a part of the master plan for Mariemont, which was founded by Mary Emery.
She succeeded, and this Village continues to thrive as a beautiful neighborhood just outside of Cincinnati. The interior of the restaurant matches the character of the exterior with its spacious, yet cozy dining room.
The history and architecture are both reasons to visit this one-of-a-kind restaurant, but the food is just as much of an enticing factor.
Lunch is also served everyday until 2:30pm and includes a number of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Always ask about the specials, and maybe you'll discover it's a delicious Goetta Burger, like the one shown above.
Dinner is a real showstopper here, and it's the perfect way to celebrate something special or have a memorable date night. Reservations are accepted for dinner Monday - Thursday from 5pm to 9:30pm, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 10pm, and Sunday from 5pm to 9pm. You can't go wrong with any of their freshly created options.
From the charming atmosphere to the impeccable service and delightful menu, this neighborhood eatery is a must-try in our city.
The National Exemplar is a lovely restaurant that deserves a visit, no matter which neighborhood you travel from in Cincinnati. Have you experienced this charming dining spot? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
