This Tiny Shop In Cincinnati Serves Cheese That Is To Die For
There are new locally owned restaurants popping up all over Cincinnati – especially in Over-the-Rhine – and sometimes it feels like you can walk down any street and discover a new spot to explore and enjoy. This summer, our city got just what it needed in this charming cheese shop on Elm Street, right across from Findlay Market. The Rhined is a locally owned and operated cheese-lover’s paradise and their offerings are to die for.

This summer, a lovely couple opened a unique shop for all of the cheese-lovers in a historic building perfectly located across from Findlay Market in Cincinnati.
The Rhined is not only excellently named, but everything about it is pretty close to perfect. The interior may be small, but there's just enough space to enjoy a flight of cheese, a slice of bread, and a delightful glass of wine.
Quite a bit of planning was needed for The Rhined to open in this location.
The above photo shows how the building appeared before work on The Rhined began. After extensive renovations, the cheese shop opened and managed to maintain its historic charm, along with plenty of modern appeal.
The Rhined specializes in artisanal cheese and provisions.
The cheese is all made here in the United States, but you better believe it's not the type of the infamous plastic-wrapped American cheese (honestly, we have trouble even calling it "cheese").
The shop owners and staff create beautiful presentations and can assist you in making your own.
These Cheesemongers know their stuff and are passionate about their business and craft. They are also extremely welcoming and invite everyone to stop in, ask questions, try a cheese flight, or even order a cheese plate for their next get together.
When you enter the space, you'll find a case of retail cheese that can be purchased, as well as a few sitting areas to relax and enjoy or snack or meal.
The Rhined often has specials, like the one pictured above, and will put together a flight of cheese for you (samples of a few different cheeses), along with delicious accompaniments, and they can even recommend a glass of wine or beer to pair along with it.
To share a passion for locally made cheese in a warm, friendly environment where you won't feel ashamed if you don't know anything about choosing the right cheese, is no easy task. The Rhined has created a gathering place for cheese-lovers and it seems it's exactly what this historic spot in Cincinnati needed.
Who doesn’t love cheese? The Rhined delivers with a delicious variety of cheeses, accompaniments and the perfectly paired beer and wine. Have you stopped into The Rhined yet? Share your experience with us in the comments!
The Rhined is located at 1737 Elm St. Cincinnati, OH 45202. For more information, check out their website here.
