The Breathtaking Ohio Hike That Glows Gold Once A Year
If you ever heard of a place called Hell Hollow Wilderness Area in Thompson, Ohio, you should know that it’s extremely beautiful—and downright heavenly in the fall. The once deep green ravine glows gold in the autumn months, and it’s an unbelievably gorgeous sight to behold.

Explore rugged slopes, little-known waterfalls and a deep ravine at this underrated park in northeast Ohio.
In the spring and summer months, it's a lushly green hollow that looks straight out of a fairytale.
With more than 200 steps leading down into the ravine, it feels like you're temporarily traveling to another world.
There are exactly 252 steps leading down to the valley floor. This trek isn't for the faint of heart.
In the fall time, the whole area transforms into a golden wonderland that almost doesn't look real.

The Beech Ridge Loop Trail is a 0.52-mile hike that is fairly easy. The 0.23-mile Wildcats Trail is fairly difficult.

This is a fall hiking trail you don't want to pass up this year.
And if the name "Hell Hollow" worries you, rest assured that it simply refers to the steep slopes (before the stairs were built) that once made it difficult to access the hollow.
