This Creepy Asylum In Ohio Is Still Standing...And Disturbing
The only thing more eerie than creepy tales about old insane asylums are old insane asylums with creepy tales that are still standing. Ohio has a rich haunting history, and The Ridges (located in Athens, Ohio right next to the Ohio University campus) was once home to one of the state’s most infamous former insane asylums.
The Athens Lunatic Asylum (The Ridges)

What was once the Athens Lunatic Asylum is now owned by Ohio University, but parts of the facility still hold shadows, stains and spirits of former mental patients who often suffered from violent treatments such as lobotomies. Today, the facility houses an art museum and university offices and the old tuberculosis ward is no longer standing—but that doesn't stop students and visitors alike from daring to explore the place known for several paranormal sightings and the beginning of the infamous lobotomy procedure.

Patients of the former insane asylum were buried on the facility's grounds, and their restless spirits are left to wander to property. Most of the graves are without names, and merely display the number of the former mental patient buried beneath.
