This One Easy Hike In San Francisco Will Lead You Someplace Unforgettable

With just a little bit of effort, you can enjoy some pretty epic scenery throughout the entire city limits of San Francisco. But there are a few key spots worthy of singling out, and we’ve got one easy hike (less than a mile with only one mini hill!) in San Francisco that will lead you to an unforgettable lookout point with a very cool (and calming) surprise at the end. Here’s how you’ll find it.

This hike starts on the far western end of town at Lands End. We recommend making a quick stop at the Cliff House for some prime ocean views, then taking a peek into the Camera Obscura, where you can see a 360-degree image of the Seal Rock area right outside.

Now… time for the hike. Begin at the Sutro Bath ruins, exploring what was once a luxurious, world-class swimming pool.

At the top of Sutro Baths, take the Coastal Trail leading towards Mile Rock Beach and Eagle’s Point.

After a few twists and turns, the foliage disperses and you can say a big hello to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Follow the sign leading you to Mile Rock Beach and descend the sandy stairs.

Instead of continuing down the stairs when they break left (pictured here), keep walking straight ahead.

Head up the small, rocky cliff to the top and look down… labyrinth!

This labyrinth was first created by artist Eduardo Aguilera in 2004. After a vandal destroyed it, a group of local volunteers rebuilt it in 2015. If the sight of the Golden Gate Bridge doesn’t leave you in total awe, walking the stone-guided paths of this creation—with the waves crashing below—will at least bring you some much-needed serenity.

And don’t forget to take a stroll down to Mile Rock Beach if you’re brave enough to dip your toes into the cool Pacific.
