The night sky is absolutely gorgeous over North Dakota, especially the badlands. You can see thousands of stars and even the Milky Way. On Labor Day weekend, 2019, you can take full advantage of these views at a special ND event.
The Dakota Nights Astronomy Festival is an annual event in Medora, ND and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park bringing together people of all ages and people from the average stargazer to actual astronomers. It will be taking place from August 30th to September 1st, 2019.
Despite being an astronomy event focused on the stars, it isn't just happening at night. During the day you can take part in activities like a solar system hike, watch films in the Discovery Dome, and more.
As the sun starts to set, the main event begins. People will be setting up telescopes and taking out their cameras on long exposure. Presenters will be there to teach people about what they are seeing in the stars.
The Dakota Nights Astronomy Festival will be taking place in various parts of Medora, North Dakota and the South Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. You can find a full schedule of events and their locations on the official website.
How are you going to spend your Labor Day weekend this year? If you’re not planning on doing some stargazing, why not check out these awesome campgrounds in North Dakota? They might be the perfect place to enjoy the holiday.
