7 Reasons Christmas In North Dakota Is The Absolute Best
As the holidays get ever closer, we all start looking forward to some of the great things the season has to offer. North Dakotans certainly have a lot to look forward to, since we have absolutely amazing Christmases here. We definitely embrace all things merry each December, and here are 7 reasons why ND is hard to beat when it comes to Christmas.
1. There is usually actually snow on Christmas.
There's no need to dream of a white Christmas here - it usually happens! There's just something wonderful about waking up Christmas day and seeing the snowy surroundings outdoors.
2. Most towns decorate their Main Street for the holidays, and it's beautiful.
I love seeing towns put up the decorations alongside the street and across it, and wrap lights around the trees. They light up the downtown area with holiday cheer.
3. Plus many towns hold mesmerizing holiday light parades.
Now these are just beautiful, and fun for everyone.
4. Sleigh rides are a thing again.
You can find sleigh rides in North Dakota in quite a few places and at certain events, as soon as the snow starts coming in. This photo was taken in Fargo.
5. The CP Holiday Train comes through our state each year.
This whimsical train only goes through a few specific states every holiday season, and North Dakota is first in line. It is magical to see this train pull through your town.
6. Seeing houses light up with twinkling lights and decorations.
There are always some pretty impressively decorated houses in North Dakota every year, both in town and even lone farm houses only visible from the nearest road or highway. They light up the dark winter nights in the best of ways.
7. Everyone gets to come together and enjoy the holidays (and special food and treats!).
The holidays are a time for gathering and family, and I think it's safe to say that North Dakotans usually fully embrace that. There's nothing quite like a Christmas with family both close and distant. Plenty of memories to be made and treats to eat!
The light displays held across North Dakota are some of my favorite things to look forward to this Christmas.
