This charming town is also known as the Heart of North Dakota.
In a literal sense, it is the geographic center of the entire state. It is also a town that has everything a small town in ND should, including a community with heart and more.

Killdeer is by far one of the most naturally beautiful towns in the Peace Garden State. It is located in the midst of the Killdeer Mountains and the eastern edges of the badlands. Not only that, but the town itself is like something off of a postcard. More information here.

You may have never heard of this unusually named small town, but you should make a point to visit it if you can. It is full of picturesque spots and plenty of small town charm. Escape to the prairies of North Dakota and relax in a town like Rutland. It may be a little bit out of the way for some, but being located in the "prairie pothole" region, it is surrounded by the most breathtaking natural landscape. This severely underrated town may be in the middle of no where, but it should be on your North Dakota bucket list. Dunseith is a town with so many unique aspects it is well worth the drive up to the Canadian border. Not only does it have the W'eel Turtle, shown above,

This small town is so much more than just the "Walleye Capital of North Dakota." It has the nicest streets to stroll down and plenty of locally owned shops and restaurants to discover. It also becomes the Christmas capital of the state in December when the Dickens Village Festival goes on. It doesn't matter what time of year it is,

Bottineau is located up in the northeast region of the state, nestled in the Turtle Mountains and surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery Forests, lakes, and hills all come together to make an enchanting environment - but it doesn't stop there. Visit the happiest place in North Dakota right in the town of Edgeley. This small town only has a population of about 550 residents, but it has a whole lot to boast about. It produces tons of clean energy for North Dakota, some of the most in the entire state, and has transformed the town into such a lovely place to live and visit.More information here.
