10 Things Out-Of-Staters Don’t Like About North Carolina… But We’re Totally OK With It
North Carolina IS for everyone, but not forever! People love to come visit and enjoy our state, but they’re sure to head home with a few complaints…here are ten.

The summer air is filled with humidity. While natives will sometimes complain, we've gotten used to it. Visitors on the other hand...sometimes they're just in shock. I once had a woman from NYC tell me "I've never had sweat on the inside of my knees!"...sorry?

For most, a little southern twang is totally endearing. Yet, sometimes, our southern roots run so deep those yankees can't even understand what we're saying. Lets not forget that whole "southerners talk slow..." as well...because we don't believe in rushing at life, or a good story.

This goes along with the humidity, but during some summer nights the mosquitos are so bad we're buying citronella candles by the dozen. Lets be honest, EVERYONE hates mosquitos.

In the more remote parts of western North Carolina, camping CAN be a bit scary. From venomous snakes, to bears...it's best to lead with caution. In the eastern part there are gators, sharks, and of course the mysterious black cat. The debate over the "panther" sightings? We LOVE it while others are just like...seriously? They're here! I swear

How do you not like grits?! I don't understand!

Have you seen that video of northerners trying moonshine? Like I said, it's an acquired taste.

Another acquired taste....

My grandpa has been trying to get me to love collard greens since the age of four. While I don't find them particularly tasty....I know my family loves them, doused in some vinegar. Yet another Carolina dish that you have to grow to love and some visitors can't stomach.

Smoking hasn't been healthy since the 1950's but that doesen't mean we will just up and abandon our state's prime source of income. Sure, smoking is bad, but the sight of a tobacco field on a country road is just gorgeous (in our eyes).

There is nothing wrong with loving where you're from and having pride in that to fullest! I guess some people are just jealous...
