This Tiny Restaurant In North Carolina Is Just What You Need To Satisfy A BBQ Craving
Have you noticed that we North Carolinians have a finely-tuned palate when it comes to BBQ? In fact, if you really want to get a Tar Heeler all riled up, mention how you think South Carolina’s BBQ is tastier – or that ‘out in Kansas City they get it right.’ We know better, don’t we? The next time you’re feeling a familiar craving for North Carolina barbeque, add a little adventure to the plan and head to the small, suburban town of Stallings, located just 15 miles southeast of Charlotte.
This BBQ journey will lead you straight to a tiny rock-covered building on Old Monroe Road.
Now known as Rock House BBQ, the Rock House has been here since the mid 1930s when it opened as the first gas station in Stallings. It operated as the town's only source of gasoline for decades.
Now the tiny Rock Store is the source of another kind of fuel.
Their signature BBQ chopped pork, along with ribs, chicken, and beef are mouthwatering good. It comes bare naked and you'll add the sauce from the Rock Store's signature line. (It may take several trips to try all of the sauces.)
Rock Store BBQ has plenty of room for you to sight right down and enjoy your meal on the spot. The decor is a mixture of regular style seating with a few eclectic touches — like the table lighting made from red-painted coffee cans. It's cozy and welcoming!
The menu has a variety of ways to order up your favorite BBQ in the most affordable way possible.
For between four and eight dollars, you can grab a sandwich, or order a BBQ plate for less than ten dollars. Plates come with your choice of meat and two sides.
Ever have a BBQ craving and want to try a new place for a change? Here’s your chance – plus you’ll visit an iconic building at the same time. Delicious moments are ahead; are you ready?
Rock Store BBQ is open seven days a week. The hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Learn more on the official website here and go here to follow the Facebook page!
Address: 3116 Old Monroe Road, Stallings, NC, 28104
