There’s No Other Hotel In The World Like This One In North Carolina
If you want to get away in North Carolina the possibilities are limitless. You can head to the coast for some R&R in the sun, go to the mountains in the west, or enjoy any point in between. But few hotels in North Carolina can boast that one of the most popular romance novels of all time was penned (in part) at their hotel.
The Green Park Inn opened in 1891 in Blowing Rock. Some 40+ years later, they would host a writer that would become famous, known world-wide primarily by the success of one book.
Margaret Mitchell is among the distinguished guests that have stayed at the historic Green Park Inn. She began writing "Gone With The Wind" in the 1930s and it published in 1936. Three years later, that book would be turned into an epic romance movie.
Although no writings exist showing how much of the famous novel Mitchell penned at Green Park Inn, the historic inn has much more than its famous novelist guest making it an awesome place to stay.
Additionally, the hotel sits on the Eastern Continental Divide — which basically means it's on a ridge of a significant mountain range and gets some extreme weather conditions, especially loads of snow!
And finally, although the hotel doesn't actively promote its propensity for ghostly sightings, it's regarded as one of the most haunted places in the area.
From its most famous guests (including two sitting American Presidents), to its location and ghostly sightings, this hotel in North Carolina is one-of-a-kind and is a must-visit. Green Park Inn is located at 9239 Valley Blvd., Blowing Rock, NC 28605. Learn more on their official website.
