The Upcoming Cheerwine Festival Celebrates The Very Essence Of North Carolina, So Save The Date
It’s only January and we’re already looking forward to some of the best events in the year ahead. One of them, in particular, is undeniably a quintessential North Carolina experience. If you’ve never attended the annual Cheerwine Festival in Salisbury, then save the date. This event celebrates the very essence of North Carolina with an all day toast to the delicious cherry soda first created in 1917 right here in the Tar Heel State.
Now in its fourth year, the Cheerwine Festival began in 2017 as a centennial celebration of the creation of Cheerwine.
That first year, thousands and thousands of people showed up to celebrate their favorite North Carolina soft drink, filling the streets of downtown Salisbury for an entire day.
On the heels of an attendance of over 50,000 in 2019, this year's festival promises to be even bigger and better and another family event everyone will enjoy.
In addition to arts and crafts vendors (lots of them!) the festival features everything Cheerwine-related and flavored. Expect to find Cheerwine floats and slushies, Cheerwine BBQ tacos, Cheerwine Kettle Corn, and much, much more.
It seems folks in the Carolinas just can't get enough Cheerwine! What began as a single celebration for the 100th anniversary has grown into a full-blown annual event spilling into virtually all of the streets in downtown Salisbury.
There's something for everyone at this fun event. For the kiddos, a special kids' zone includes street performers, bounce houses, a climbing wall, and more.
Food vendors will be set up throughout and have special menu items featuring Cheerwine-inspired eats. If that's not enough... a beer garden is available and we're betting there will be a brewer that offers Cheerwine flavored beer there (but don't hold us to it).
The Cheerwine Festival takes place on Saturday, May 16, 2020, from 12 noon to 10 p.m. A massive stage will be thriving with live music throughout and a featured headliner performance will take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The headline band is set to be announced in March, so we're eagerly awaiting that announcement on the official website (link below). But if the last two years are any indication, then we're in for a treat.
Of course, the area in front of the stage isn't this crowded throughout the festival, but when Smash Mouth took the stage in 2019... a cheering, happy crowd was inevitable.
Just to recap, so you can save the date: The Cheerwine Festival is set for Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Salisbury, North Carolina. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss it and prepare for a day filled with food, fellowship, and plenty of Cheerwine! Learn more from the official website.
