You can explore Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary, or the Full Moon Tour at Pine Island. Or you could choose to head to Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
The Kitty Hawk Maritime Forest & Marsh is a huge hit for beginners.
There’s also the lovely Kitty Hawk Bay & Marsh tour, where you explore Albemarle Sound and have a chance to paddle open water. This is a great tour for wildlife spotting, where you may see river otter and bald eagles.
Or you could choose to explore the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge.
This trip through a winding creek and lakes offer sights of alligators! They’ll be sunning themselves on the comfortable stumps or floating grass. You may even have a chance to hear the howling of the rare red wolf, and catch sight of black bears, bobcats, and more!
