The Lovely Little Country Store In North Carolina That Will Take You Back In Time

Tiny towns and country roads are the heart of North Carolina. There is something about arriving in a small community where tradition rules over progress, and where everyone strives to make things a little better without infringing too heavily upon the past. Several miles north of Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Lake Junaluska, you’ll find a little country store that is the epitome of progress, without stepping on history.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Big Creek Country Store is located at 67 Mount Sterling Road, Waynesville, NC. (Some sources may attribute a Newport, TN to the address. Google Maps will pull up the GPS location with either address.) It’s open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Learn more, and follow the store, on their Facebook page.
