Taking a trip of any kind to New York’s more scenic and remote areas can usually mean that we’re surrounded by nothing but beautiful forests and have no clue where to find a good place to eat. In areas like the Adirondacks where you have next to nothing cell phone service, you won’t be able to count on pulling up Google to search for the best nearby restaurant.
Making sure you always know where to find our best hidden treasures, this one remote restaurant in New York will take you a million miles away from it all!
Hiding right in between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, you'll find Tail O' The Pup.
Like so many of our favorite things, this restaurant is hiding up in our High Peak region, surrounded by New York's tallest mountains and remote lakes.

One of the greatest things about this place? They have a handful of cabins that you can rent!
Tail O' The Pup is basically like discovering a small little community in the Adirondacks. The property features the restaurant, raw bar, ice cream shop, playground for the kids and anything else you could think to need. Staying in a cabin in the Adirondacks and walking right out your door to find all of this tasty food? I'm not sure it gets any better than this!

Usually staying open each year through the end of October, now is the perfect time to take a visit while it's still warm! Minutes away from our best and oldest attractions, Lake Placid's Main Street is just a 10 minute car ride from Tail O' The Pup!
The original restaurant opened up back in the 1940's and has been a local favorite throughout the years.
Hot dogs and hamburgers to brisket and pulled pork, there's something for everyone. With so much to try, it'll make you want to rent out one of their cabins so you can stay longer and eat more!
