This New York Waterfall Hike With A Whirlpool Definitely Belongs On Your Bucket List
Here in New York, we’re blessed with an almost infinite number of beautiful hiking trails. No matter what region of the Empire State you’re in, you’re sure to find a trail to explore. There’s nothing like hiking in New York. Nothing compares to mentally unwinding, getting some exercise, and seeing natural beauty all at the same time. One trail worth adding to your bucket list is the Niagara Gorge Rim Trail in Whirlpool State Park in Niagara Falls.
Whirlpool State Park is a gorgeous 109-acre refuge that overlooks the Niagara Gorge and Niagara River. There are trails that connect the park to the nearby Devil's Hole State Park.
The Niagara Whirlpool formed over 4,000 years ago through erosion. The releasing of sediment from nearby rock caused the water's direction to change, and a natural whirlpool developed. The whirlpool flows counter-clockwise.
