Oftentimes when you’re living in New York it feels like the entire state was created to be our own personal playground. With adventures hiding around every corner, there’s always new places to explore that will keep you feeling youthful. But if you’re in search of something that comes with a taste of nostalgia and is an activity that the entire family can enjoy? Well then it’s time to head out to the Finger Lakes to discover why this charming place will make you feel like a kid again.
Just north of Cayuga Lake out in Wayne County is a magical train-filled adventure that's waiting for you.
Right in the town of Clyde, Finger Lakes Live Steamers is a non-profit organization that allows all train lovers to come build and operate large scale model trains.
But the best part about this unique small town club is that throughout the year they offer free rides to visitors who are looking to hop onboard their small, mighty and magical trains!
Run by the members of the Finger Lakes Live Steamers club, the 12-acres of land that the large railway model now sits on use to be a corn field and continues to still surround you with rural scenery.
Those who are interested in taking a ride on one of the club's trains can start planning their trip now! The next open house is coming on September 23rd and 24th.
That's right! The Finger Lakes Live Steamers hold open houses throughout the year where you can come check out the park, ride their trains and will also have food and souvenirs available. The weekend of September 23rd and 24th the club will be open from 10AM to 4PM and is free to all visitors, although donations are accepted. To find out more information, click here.
