New York’s summer has been off to an interesting start with quite a bit of flooding and more rain than we would’ve normally cared for. But the one benefit from all of this excess rain is that the majority of our state’s waterfalls are currently looking like paradise. Last summer we experienced quite a drought, leaving most of our favorite waterfalls running dry or left with just a mere trickle. So if you’ve been anxious to get out in nature to see these natural wonders looking as they should, we’ve got the perfect easy hike for you to take that features an end point that’s out of this world.
Within the small town of Copake Falls, Taconic State Park is located right near New York's state border.

Before you know if after entering the park you'll see the parking lot and trailhead for Bish Bash Falls.

A quick and almost entirely flat 3/4 mile-long hike, all along the trail you'll find benches and beautiful hang out spots where you can soak in the sights that make up this family-friendly adventure.

For the entire trail you'll walk along Bash Bish Brook, a crystal clear stream that makes for an amazing view.
But the exciting part about this hike is that just a few minutes before you reach the end of the trail, you'll actually cross over into Massachusetts!

After crossing the state line you'll quick find yourself at the overlook for Bash Bish Falls, a sight so stunning you'll easily forget that you're in the upper right hand corner of our country and not on some exotic island.
Those who are interested in getting a closer look at the falls can walk down the somewhat steep staircase, equipped with a rail that will help you make your way down.

All along the trail and around the falls you'll see signs that say swimming here is prohibited, yet on a daily basis you'll find the trailhead parking lot full of people who are solely here to cool off in the water.
A spot that is popular to visit during summer, if you want to have a chance of experiencing some alone time with this natural wonder you'll want to arrive as early as possible.
With other trailheads nearby the Bash Bish Falls parking area, this lot can fill up rather quickly. If you find that the parking area is already full by the time you get here, it's good to note that if you keep driving along the road you'll quickly see the Massachusetts' parking lot for the waterfalls and trailhead.
