The One Easy Hike In New York That Gives You A Positively Dreamy View
Despite the fact that New York is an absolute wonderland when it comes to hiking, not all of our residents are up for the challenge that the majority of our trails offer. With a variety of adventures waiting to be found all over our state, many of us are attracted to the beauty that our Adirondack High Peaks bring to the table. But if you aren’t up for taking on one of these strenuous trails, then you’ll be pleased to hear that there’s one hike in this region that gives you a view of our tallest mountains without having to put in a ton of work.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate
Taking you up to heart of our Adirondack Park, Mount Jo is a loop trail that comes in at just over 2-miles long round trip.
Considered by most to be a moderate hike, the reason this trail isn't technically considered to be easy because of the rock scrambling you'll run into and some steepness. But don't feel intimidated by the moderate label! This is something to be expected when you have such a short trail that gets you up to a height that has such a marvelous view. Over before you know it, most people who explore this trail reach the summit in an hour or less.
Something else you'll want to keep in mind? Now that the weather is warming up you'll find our trails to be a bit more populated. With Mount Jo being one of many hikes that's accessible at the Adirondack Loj, you'll find the designated parking lot to be one that fills up rather quickly. So the earlier you can arrive to this trail, the better!
