The Small-Town BBQ Joint Near Buffalo That Is Totally Worth The Trip
When it comes to craving something delicious and savory, there’s no better city to live in than Buffalo. With an ample amount of wings at the ready and incredible sandwiches like Beef on Weck all around us, it’s impossible to go hungry in the Queen City. If you’re ready to feast away on unforgettable food but haven’t been sure of where to look, then try heading just north of your neighborhood to get a taste of what this one small-town barbecue joint is really made of.
Tucked between Young Street and Ellicott Creek in Tonawanda, Smoke on the Water is less than 15 miles north of the city of Buffalo.
Since opening, the small-town barbecue joint has become known for being one of the best barbecue spots in Western New York.
Their homemade spices and rubs will make your taste buds do a little happy dance.
The restaurant smokes all of their meats right on site, and the delicious aroma will have your mouth watering before you even step inside.
Though Smoke on the Water has plenty of indoor seating, you'll find most people dining outside along the waterfront on a sunny summer day.
Pick out a table and feast your eyes on the lovely scenery and the marvelous menu.
Order one of the eye-catching cocktails and you’re all set for a meal you’ll never forget!
For starters, try the Ahi Tuna Tacos, Soft Pretzel Sticks, Coconut Crusted Tiger Shrimp, Creole Deviled Eggs, or the finger-licking good Smoke on the Water Chicken Wings.
However, the most popular appetizer of all is the "Hand Grenade" - a smoked pork-stuffed potato that’s loaded up with cheddar cheese, jalapeños, sour cream, scallions, and barbecue sauce!
As tasty as all of those starters are, you'll want to make sure to save room for main dishes, like sandwiches served on Costanzo's Kaiser Rolls with Voodoo Fries...
...Smoked Pork Dinners, Angus Beef Briskets, Shrimp K-Bobs, Baby Back Ribs...
....and options where you can taste a little bit of everything!
Another thing you’ll notice on almost every table? Smoke on the Water’s famous Nickel City Mac & Cheese, which comes topped with scallions, a bit of barbecue, and Goldfish Crackers!
If you have yet to dig into a barbecue feast this summer, be sure to take the trip up to Tonawanda to dine at Smoke on the Water.
