Once in a while, we could all use a little adventure. Not only can it get us out of a rut in our lives but it can satisfy any wanderlust we may be feeling. We'll start this adventure at the Valley of Fires Recreation Area where you'll be able to hike through ancient lava beds. Formed by the eruption of Little Black Peak over 5,000 years ago, this park is absolutely awe-inspiring.

Tullarosa Basin's lava flow covers a 125-square-mile area and is 160 feet thick. It's quite an otherworldly place to explore.

Take a walk along the nature trail through the lava field and you'll find a surprising number of flora and fauna as well. You'll see flowers, trees, cacti, birds, and more. You'll be utterly fascinated by all you see in the Valley of Fires.
