This Secluded State Forest In New Jersey Is So Worthy Of An Adventure

New Jersey is a small, populated state — and while that means there are plenty of great restaurants, shops, and attractions, it does mean many New Jerseyans are searching for a little peace and quiet. However, you can find gorgeous, secluded places in the state — and one of our favorites is a massive state forest where you can find all sorts of opportunities for adventure.

Wharton State Forest is easily one of the most secluded places you can possibly find in New Jersey.

This state forest is the largest single tract of land within the New Jersey State Park System — it's over 110,000 acres big.
It may be secluded, but that seclusion adds to the awe and natural beauty of Wharton State Forest.

It's one of our favorite places in the Pine Barrens.
There are so many gorgeous lakes and rivers here. You'll find plenty of great spots to canoe or kayak.

The lakes are peaceful all times of year.
Hike to Apple Pie Hill, where you'll find a fire tower. It's the highest point in the state forest.

All you'll see for miles and miles are trees in every direction.
There are many, many other hiking trails in the area. Keep an eye out for interesting wildlife.
