This Incredible Kite Festival In New Jersey Is A Must-See

We may be a small state, but New Jersey is home to some pretty big festivals. One of those festivals is the Wildwoods International Kite Festival. Held annually on Memorial Day Weekend since 1985, it is the largest kite festival in North America.

The event is sponsored, in part, by the city of Wildwood and draws in crowds of kite enthusiasts from around the world.

The festival lasts four days (May 26-May 29) and features a variety of events.

Highlights of the Wildwood International Kite Festival include an illuminated kite fly and stunt competitions.

You'll also find an indoor kite competition, kites dropping candy, workshops, family games and an auction.

The festival will be held between Rio Grande and Burke Avenues, but it won't be hard to spot.

Right on the beach, the festival is free to attend. See hundreds of kites dancing above the ocean.

You can learn more about kite flying on the "Learn To Fly" field and you can take in some truly unique kite creations.

And, the kites aren't all you can enjoy. Build a sand castle, go for a swim or enjoy boardwalk rides and games.

It's always fun to see the vibrant colors dancing in the sky and it doesn't cost a cent.

Have you been to the Wildwood International Kite Festival yet? If not, what are you waiting for? For more waterfront fun in New Jersey, check out this stunning white sand beach.
