This Upscale Italian Eatery In New Jersey Was Once A Notorious Mob Hangout

New Jersey is known for many things. The Garden State is the “Diner Capital of the World” and was the birthplace of the highbush blueberry, but we’re also associated with certain…unsavory organizations. I am, of course, referring to the Mob, Mafia, La Cosa Nostra. Whatever you call it, we can’t deny that the notorious crime syndicate has ties to our beloved state. The groundbreaking Sopranos series was centered around a New Jersey mobster, and while the show was fiction, it isn’t all make believe.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Whether you’re a mob buff or big fan of high quality Italian cuisine (or both!), Villa Amalfi is worth a visit. For more about Flanders Hotel and its mob ties (and catacombs), click here.
