The Serene Hummingbird Garden In New Jersey That's Too Beautiful For Words

The charming little garden is maintained by the Royal Garden Club By The Bay and focuses on plants meant to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The Ruby-Throated and Rufous Hummingbirds are most commonly spotted here, during the early morning hours. You may also come across Black-Chinned or Calliope Hummingbirds (the smallest breeding birds in North America) but only several have been seen in New Jersey over the last decade.

The hummingbird garden is home to a lovely little gazebo and spectacular views of the Raritan Bay. It is part of a larger park with a fishing pier, walking paths, a sandy beach, and a Veteran's Memorial.

While visiting, you'll also be just steps away from the Kearny Cottage Museum (focused on the area's maritime history) and the Proprietary House (a former Royal Governor's Mansion).

Their award-winning gardens include: The Girl Scout Youth Garden, The Rose Garden, The Herb Garden and Rosemary’s Garden, all located at the Kearny Cottage, The Community Garden at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, The Rock Garden on Front Street next to the marina office, The Fragrance Garden at High Street City Hall, The Market Square Garden on High Street Circle, The Butterfly Garden, and the Veteran’s Memorial Garden on Sadowski Parkway. The Hummingbird Garden is located at the intersection of Sadowski Parkway and High Street (just across from The Butterfly Garden).
