Streuselkuchen is a German specialty made of a yeast dough covered with a sweet crumb topping. In New Jersey, we call the delectable dessert ‘crumb cake’ and you can find one of the best at B & W Bakery. While the small, cash-only shop may not be quite as famous as Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken (featured on TLC’s Cake Boss), it still has quite the reputation.
People love the crumb cake so much that lines run out the door during the holiday season. Don’t want to wait in line? You can have the cake shipped right to you! Orders can be delivered across the U.S., so you don’t even need to live in New Jersey. Goldbelly will get them to you fresh and they make a great gift. Have you had the crumb cake here? What did you think? For other great crumb cakes in New Jersey, check out Styertowne Bakery in Clifton, Mueller’s Bakery in Bay Head, and Mallon’s Homemade Sticky Buns in Upper Township. (Note that it’s called coffee cake at Mallon’s.)
