It turns out that you don't have to travel all way around the world just to get some good German eats. There's an amazingly authentic German diner called Bavarian World right here in Nevada and it's begging for a visit.
Located in the middle of downtown Reno, Bavarian World is downright humongous. The 15,000-square-foot structure is home to a restaurant, dance hall, market, and bakery. It's basically a one-stop-shop for German goods!
Immediately upon walking in, you'll notice that the place is steeped in Old World charm. Sure, the interior may seem a bit dated, but it's totally right for this type of old-fashioned restaurant. If anything, it completes the charming atmosphere.
It turns out that Bavarian World has been around for a long time—over 40 years. Over the decades, the restaurant has earned a loyal following, but has also stayed one of Nevada's best-kept secrets.
Once you sit down in the antiquated dining room, you can take a look at the vast menu full of authentic eats. This place is truly the real deal! You can't go wrong with whatever you decide on, but one of the most popular dishes is the Jaeger Schnitzel, which is tenderized pork loin topped with gravy.
Their Sauerbraten is another local favorite. This dish is comprised of five slices of wine and vinegar marinated beef, topped with sour cream sauce, and served with red cabbage and spaetzle.
Afterwards, walk into the bakery portion of Bavarian World and check out the delicious homemade goodies. They have a huge selection of German pastries and you won't be able to resist picking up a few to take with you on the road.
