Where are the best kid-friendly hikes around Nevada?

Nevada is a great place for hiking, as well as the rest of the western United States. It’s home to countless square miles of desert landscape to explore and fall in love with. Of the enormous number of trails and hikes in Nevada to choose from, many of them are perfect for families with small children thanks to their ease and short distances. Some of our favorite kid-friendly hikes around Nevada include the Calico Tanks Trail, which is near Las Vegas and features some amazing views, and the Historic Railroad Hiking Trail near Boulder City is a must-do even for families with very small children (it’s appropriate for toddlers!). The Mary Jane Falls trail is another one that’s great for the whole family, and we also love many of Nevada’s awesome nature preserves for being kid-friendly, too. The key is to keep it short, sweet, and interesting so that even the youngest of attention spans will have a great time hiking in Nevada.

What are some amazing scenic hikes in Nevada?

With beautiful desert and mountain landscapes come some truly amazing scenic hikes, and Nevada is no exception. Many of its trails are almost too wonderful to be true, and they vary in lengths and skill levels required to conquer them. Some of the most amazing scenic hikes in Nevada include the Calico Hills Trail at the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. It’s geologically interesting and quite scenic, traveling through some beautiful gorges and desert paradise. Another is the Alpine Lakes Loop Trail, at Great Basin National Park. That one might just be the best hike in the entire state of Nevada! It’s ridiculously scenic and will make you feel like you’re somewhere in Colorado instead of Nevada. It’s just under three miles long and features two amazing, crystal-clear lakes. Then, there’s the Fire Wave Trail at Valley of Fire State Park; that one is excellent for anyone with an interest in geology. There are so many more that it’s impossible to list them all here... but it’s a start!
