7 Easy And Beautiful Spring Hikes Everyone In Nevada Will Love
Nevada is beautiful all year long, but everyone knows that it’s best to explore our state during springtime. This is the time of year when the weather is absolutely perfect, and you can take advantage of all of the adventures that can be had in our state. There’s no better way to start off your spring explorations than by taking one of these easy but beautiful hikes. These spring hikes are simple enough for all skill levels to enjoy but still offer up some memorable views that are sure to blow you away.
1. Moenkopi Trail
The simple Moenkopi Trail takes you through the stunning Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. At only 2 miles long and with only a slight elevation gain, this trail is perfect for hikers of all skill levels. It may be easy, but the views are utterly breathtaking. Don't forget your camera for this one!
2. Spooner Lake Trail
The Spooner Lake Trail is 2.4 miles long and located near Glenbrook. This easy hike is a nice change from the desert with plenty of lush foliage surrounding a beautiful lake. The trail is pretty well shaded and extremely peaceful. With just the sounds of birds chirping and the rustling of leaves, you'll feel a million miles away from it all.
3. Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve
Located near Henderson is the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve. The preserve features a three mile loop trail which takes you to numerous amazing overlooks of the surrounding foothills. Although it's just a short drive from the Strip, this place really feels like an escape into nature. Don't miss out on a jaw dropping sunset at the Whitney Mesa Preserve.
4. Fletcher Canyon Trail
If you're looking to delve a little further into the wilderness, we suggest the Fletcher Canyon Trail in the Mt. Charleston Wilderness. This three mile out-and-back trail is a little more rugged, but still considered to be very simple. One of the best things about this trail is the fact that it offers a diversity of scenery. One moment you're surrounded by trees and the next you're looking up steep cliffs on the interior of the canyon.
5. Wetlands Park Nature Preserve
Who said you had to spend money to have fun in Las Vegas? There's such an immense amount of natural areas around this region that are perfect for getting out and experiencing the outdoors, and the Wetlands Park Nature Preserve is one of them. The 1.6 mile trail through the preserve is flat and well-maintained. With tons of wildlife and beautiful scenery, the trail is like a little oasis in the middle of the desert.
6. Railroad Tunnel Trail
Located in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the Railroad Tunnel Trail is one of the most unique hiking experiences in Nevada. Not only is it incredibly scenic, but this trail is rich with history regarding the constructino of the Hoover Dam. This well-maintained trail takes you through five humongous ex-train tunnels, and boasts awe-inspiring views of Lake Mead.
7. Mustang Ranch Trail
This hidden gem of a trail is located in the McCarran Ranch Preserve in Sparks. All in all, the trail is 20 miles in its entirety and most people just complete small sections of it at a time. The trail runs along the gorgeous Truckee River and feels very remote. You could definitely hike a good chunk of this trail without seeing another soul.
