The Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Tour is a beautiful adventure. This scenic drive begins in either Green River or Rock Springs. This 24-mile self-guided tour takes about 1.5 hours to complete and you will primarily travel on a gravel road.

Wild horses are commonly spotted between Rock Springs and 14 Mile Hill and across the top of White Mountain. Other wild animals you might see on this beautiful drive in Wyoming include pronghorn, elk, rabbits, deer, hawks, coyotes, sage-grouse, and eagles.

Along this route, there are some worthwhile overlooks of some prominent features such as Pilot Butte, Boar's Tusk, Killpecker Sand Dunes, Steamboat Mountain, North and South Table Mountain, Leucite Hills, Aspen Mountain, Wilkins Peak, and the Overland Trail and Union Pacific railroad corridors. It definitely is a scenic drive you won't want to miss.

From Rock Springs, take Exit 104 off of I-80. Head north on Elk Street/Highway 191 around 14 miles to County Road 4-14, also known as Fourteen Mile Road. Turn left on 4-14 and drive 2.5 miles, then take a left onto County Road 4-53. Stay on 4-53S for 21.5 miles to Green River.

From Green River, take Exit I-80 to Flaming Gorge Way then turn north onto Wild Horse Canyon Road.
