There's nothing like taking a dip in one of our state's many pristine swimming holes. Here are six swimming holes in Wyoming that you will want to check out. Always be sure to obey all signs and know the temperature of the water before entering! You never know, so please exercise caution. 1. Firehole
Firehole River Canyon is located inside of Yellowstone National Park. This swimming hole is a great place to spend a few hours. The water consists of rapids flowing into a deeper section and shallow sections outside of the current. The water here is warm because it is the runoff from thermal features such as Old Faithful. Firehole is located near the West Entrance to Yellowstone. Head south to Old Faithful and take a right at the Firehole River Canyon sign. The swimming hole is about 1.5 miles on the right.
2. Granite Hot Springs
Granite Hot Springs is located in Teton National Forest. The springs consist of natural hot water that is led into a concrete pool. The temperature varies from 93º in the summer to 112º in the winter. At the Hoback Junction, turn left on Rt 189/191. Drive 12 miles to the Granite Hot Springs turn. Take a left on the dirt road and drive for 10 miles. The view from Granite Hot Springs is absolutely gorgeous.
3. Saratoga Natural Hot Springs
Saratoga Natural Hot Springs is also known as Hobo Pool. Hobo Pool is located on the east end of Walnut Avenue in Saratoga. The concrete and covered pool has a sandy bottom and is fed by the water from Saratoga Hot Springs. The water from the spring ranges anywhere from 117º to 128º. The hot springs is located right by the North Platte River. You can swim in the river but you have to be very careful of the water temperature because in some places it is scalding hot.
4. Hot Springs State Park
At Hot Springs State Park, water flows over colorful terraces along the Big Horn River at Thermopolis. The water flowing over the terraces stays at a temperature of 135ºF. In the bath house, the water is maintained at 104º for therapeutic bathing.
5. Mr. Bubbles Hot Spring
Mr. Bubbles Hot Spring is a wonderful hot spring in Wyoming located halfway down the Bechler River Trail in the southwestern portion of Yellowstone. It’s a 30-mile round-trip hike either from the Bechler Ranger Station or from Old Faithful. From Three Rivers Junction, take a 1/2-mile trail along the Ferris Fork River. The hot spring is on the right. Always check with the Ranger Station regarding the temperature of the water and do not hike this trail at night. 6. Kelly Warm Spring
The view of the Tetons at Kelly Warm Springs is amazing. The water here falls in the warm range and the spring is actually deep enough to swim in. The spring is easy to access and shallow enough for children. Kelly Warm Springs is east of the Grand Tetons in the Jackson Hole region of Wyoming.
