You’ll Want To Spend All Day At This Waterfall-Fed Pool In Wyoming

Discover the Popo Agie Falls Trail in Wyoming, a 3.3-mile hike leading to a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole.

Wyoming doesn't get many hot summer days compared to the rest of the country, but our high elevation means that when they come by, they are brutal. Plan to set aside time for a hike along the Popo Agie Falls trail next time the mercury rises, and you'll be so glad you tracked down this beautiful Wyoming waterfall swimming hole.

Shoshone National Forest is home to some of the best hiking in Wyoming, but don't think it's only for backpackers!

There's one 3.3 mile round trip hike that will take you on the adventure of a lifetime - the Popo Agie Falls Trail.

Follow the trail along the Popo Agie River until you find a roaring cascade that plummets down into the river as it continues below.

Just past the main falls, you'll find a smaller, quieter cascade. This is known as the rock slide - can you guess why?

Bring a bathing suit! When the current is quiet, you can actually use the slippery rock as a waterslide into the swimming hole below!

If you'd rather avoid the waterfalls, there are plenty of other swimming holes along the trail. Keep an eye out and you'll be sure to have an amazing time.

Address: Louis Lake Road, Lander, WY, 82520
