This 3.3 mile Medicine Bow Routt National Forest hike is one that locals have raved about for years, but it still remains fairly off the grid.

The absolutely breathtaking views show off the peaks and valleys of the Snowy Range, the mighty mountains that extend from Colorado into southeastern Wyoming.

Lewis Lake and South Gap Lake make for perfect picnic spots, and after hiking through the gorgeous forest, you'll welcome a scenic rest area.

Be sure to carry bear spray with you as you explore, and keep an eye out for wildlife! This is an area known to be full of critters big and small.

If you'd like to stay a little longer, you can turn your day hike into an overnight trek!

The Sugarloaf Recreation Area and Campground is roomy and has places for electric hookups, but the primitive sites are wildly popular.
