The One Incredible State Park In Wyoming That You Need To Explore

This state park in Wyoming offers a little bit of everything from an array of recreational opportunities to historical architecture. This scenic public recreational area offers a nice mix of land and water activities. That's why this one incredible state park in Wyoming is ideal if you just want to get out and explore.

Guernsey State Park is located in Platte County in southeastern Wyoming. The park contains 6,227 acres of land and 2,375 acres of water.

The park was established as a result of the development of the Guernsey Dam. The dam dates all the way back to 1927.

The dam in turn created a reservoir. The state park was established around the Guernsey Reservoir. This water source all ties in with the North Platte River.

Fishing and boating are popular water activities in the park. To accommodate boating activities, there are 3 boat ramps that can be used to access the water.

There's also a little beachy area where you can fish. Some of the fish you might find on the end of your line include yellow perch, walleye and channel catfish.

The incredible structures found within the park were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The structures were erected from 1934 to 1939. Pictured is the Castle with a giant fireplace and winding steps that lead to an observation area.

Some of the best picnic spots in the state can be found in Guernsey State Park. The park offers some very unique spots with covered shelters and scenic views.

There's a very informative mini museum in the park that is perched on a cliff overlooking the water. The Guernsey State Park Museum offers information about the Civilian Conservation Corps, the natural features of the park and the cultural history of the area.

The park provides 7 campgrounds. Five of which are located around the lake.

There are many trails that wind throughout the park. The trail system starts at the Brimmer Point Turnoff and loop around the park, reservoir and dam.

Guernsey State Park is located off Interstate 25. Take Exit 92 to U.S. Highway 26 and then State Route 270.
