The One Hidden Gem In Wyoming You Must See To Believe

Wyoming is home to numerous hidden gems, including some of the oldest and most unique attractions in the state.

One thing's for sure, there's no shortage of hidden gems in Wyoming. They come in all shapes and sizes. And believe me, this one does come in a wide array of both. In fact, this might even be one of the oldest out of all of the hidden gems in the Cowboy State.

This intriguing rocky outcrop is known as Vedauwoo. Vedauwoo is an Arapaho word meaning "earth-born."

These amazing rock formations are located in southeastern Wyoming between Laramie and Cheyenne. This gem is hidden within the Medicine Bow - Routt National Forest.

This spectacular group of granite formations is part of what is known as Pole Mountain. The outcrops are made up of Sherman Granite which is 1.4 billion years old.

The Sherman Granite is composed of fragments of quartz and feldspar. It's the higher concentration of feldspar that gives the rocks that pinkish tint.

The rocks were formed by the forces of wind and water. Fossils of sea urchins, sea lilies and snails can still be found in some of the rocks.

The area can be accessed via hiking trails. These trails include the Turtle Rock Trail and the Box Canyon Trail.

Local legend says that the rocks were piled up by playful spirits. It's also been said that the area was used as a hideout for famous outlaws.

This is a beautiful spot for camping enthusiasts. The Vedauwoo Campground is nestled right below the stone outcrops. The campground offers 28 campsites with portable water, trash pick-up and vault toilets. There's also a picnic area.

This area is a sanctuary for outdoor recreational opportunities. This is an extremely popular area for rock climbers.
