Editor's Note: The Blind Madison has unfortunately closed since this article was originally written. It was replaced with another restaurant that's just as unique and you can see more of it here.
We get so few warm months here in Wisconsin that when the weather finally starts to heat up, we love to spend as much time outside as possible. There's something so refreshing and relaxing about having a great meal outside.
The Madison Blind is named after the duck hunting structure and sits atop The Graduate Hotel. With views of Lake Mendota and the Capitol Building, it's hard not to imagine yourself sipping a drink and enjoying summer in Wisconsin up on their roof.
Perched above Madison, the Duck Blind offers a chance to get out in the fresh air and have some delicious food and drinks.
Whether it's views of the Capitol ...
... or looking out over Lake Mendota, the views from up here are stunning.
You're right in the neighborhood, but a few floors up with a sense you're just floating above it all and taking it in.
Since our warm weather can be fickle at best, they've got outdoor heaters and an indoor dining room with so many windows you'll feel like you're outside.
The wall of windows is a great way to kick off some winter blues while not freezing your tuchus off.
Even through the windows, the sunsets are spectacular.
Though frankly they're better when you're outside.
The food is elevated and tasty, but not too pretentious.
You might not think our fish fry needs duck fat fries - but once you taste them, you'll know you were wrong.
So head on up to the roof at The Blind Madison to take in some fresh air, some scenery and some awesome bites.
You won't regret making a special trip.
The Blind Madison is located at 601 Langdon St, Madison, WI 53703.
