With a Castle Playground and Fishing Pier, This Family-Friendly Park in Wisconsin Is the Best Summer Day Trip

Pack the sunscreen and get ready for fun. Here’s what’s waiting for you at Winnebago Park in Tomah, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is filled with wonderful parks that are a budget-friendly way to spend a summer day. In Tomah, there’s a beautiful, waterfront Wisconsin park that will keep the kids occupied for hours. It’s home to a big castle-like playground, and there’s a fishing pier nearby for those who want to cast a line. Pack the sunscreen—here’s what’s waiting for you at Winnebago Park.

Tomah is a charming city in Monroe County. It’s a great location for people who love outdoor beauty, because it’s at the edge of the Driftless Area, and it’s also the gateway to Wisconsin’s Cranberry Country. Plus, there’s a lot to do right in town.

The city is home to a pretty little lake called Lake Tomah. It’s on the west side of town, a short distance from downtown. Some homes line the lake, but there’s a place the public can enjoy: Winnebago Park. This city park is a four-season destination. In the winter, it has beautiful outdoor light displays and is quite popular. But the park is hard to beat on a nice summer day.

It draws a lot of families with its expansive, castle-themed playground. Here, there’s plenty of room for kids to play and explore—they can search for wizards and dragons in this little wonderland of a play area.

Nearby, there’s a well-built fishing pier. In fact, the last time I was here, I saw a couple pull a nice fish out of the water after just a few casts.

This waterfront Wisconsin park is also a great place for a summer stroll. There’s plenty of space for a picnic, and there are boat ramps you can use if you want to get out on the water. If you’re looking for a low-key alternative to the busy waterparks, this park could be a good bet.

There's nothing like a summer day on or near the water, and Winnebago Park is perfect for the entire family.
