Before Word Gets Out, Visit Wisconsin’s Newest Hiking Trail

Wisconsin has some wonderful trails, and this new hiking trail is one you’ll want to seek out. The Bluff Rapids Trail is opening up a new area to a longtime Chippewa Falls park, and it will take you on an incredible journey that includes a waterfall. Here’s why Bluff Rapids Trail is a beautiful new Wisconsin hiking path.

You’ll find Bluff Rapids Trail in Irvine Park. The park was established in 1906 when William Irvine, a lumber baron and philanthropist, donated the land to the city of Chippewa Falls.

The park was created as a gift to the community, and today, it’s a popular destination for residents, as well as visitors. It covers more than 300 acres.

The park has a number of attractions, including Irvine Park Zoo, which is the second oldest municipal zoo in the United States that is still in operation.

Visitors can see animals like black bears, cougars, bison, bobcats, and more.

The park features several picturesque pedestrian bridges that span Duncan Creek, which flows through the heart of the park. Benches offer a place to rest.

The park has some well-maintained walking trails that provide opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying nature. The paths wind through wooded areas, open spaces, and alongside the creek.

The Bluff Rapids Trail takes visitors to a previously difficult-to-reach waterfall.

People used to hike an unofficial path through the woods here, but the new trail is marked and easier to follow.

The trail is a little narrow in spots and rugged, but it’s worth the journey!

Irvin Park is a real treasure - whenever I’m in Chippewa Falls, I try to make time for a visit. Learn more about Irvine Park on the city of Chippewa Falls website. Get your trail hiking supplies at REI. Interested in more adventures? Here’s what to see and do in Wisconsin.
