Its maximum depth is 355 feet, and due to its deep, cool waters and visibility up to 30 feet in some areas and 40 feet in others, Wazee Lake is a popular spot for SCUBA diving. In fact, over 1,000 divers visit this pristine Midwestern lake annually.

For those who don't SCUBA dive, there is, of course, the option to swim. On those hot summer days when you just want to cool off, there's no better place to be than this iconic swimming hole. Another great thing about its deep water is that the temperature remains cooler in the summer than in other bodies of water. Taking a dip here is certainly refreshing.

Within the Wazee Lake Recreation Area, there's a fairly large beach where families can spend the day lounging on the sand or splashing in the water. Take some sand toys and floaties and have some fun in the sun!

If you enjoy boating, only non-motorized boats are allowed out on Wazee Lake. That way, visitors can enjoy the quiet sounds of nature without the sounds of motors. A boat launch is available for your canoe, kayak, or SUP in the park.
