Winter is here to stay, at least for a little while, and one way to make the best of the cold, snowy weather is with a trip to a ski resort. Not a skier? That's okay - ski resorts these days offer all kinds of fun winter options, not the least of which is snowtubing!
Perched high on a mountain in the heart of West Virginia, Snowshoe Mountain Resort offers some of the best skiing in the state.
But if you're in the mood to play in the snow, you can do much more than just ski down Snowshoe Mountain ...
... you can also coast smoothly down a six-story slope on a slick, comfortable, cushioned snowtube!
Coca-Cola Tube Park is open day or night, and new in the last few years is the multi-colored galactic lighting that just adds to the fun once the sun goes down. And if you're lucky, you might glimpse the whole sky lighting up with multi-colored lights courtesy of the spectacular sunsets at Snowshoe!
There's also a party deck, so if you need a break from tubing, you can warm up alongside a roaring fire or relax in a comfy armchair.
The tubing hill offers multiple lanes, so there's plenty of room to spread out and have fun.
To learn more about tubing at Snowshoe, head over to their website! Alternatively, you can also find some information and plenty of pictures on their Facebook page. Purchasing tickets in advance is encouraged, and you can do so on their website. Two-hour tubing session tickets start at $5 for the youngest tubers (they even have their own separate tubing hill!), and mid-week and groups-of-four discounts are also available for students and adults.
Snowshoe Mountain isn't the only tubing hill around. If you love to get out and play in the snow, give Blackwater Falls State Park a try as well ... it's the longest sled run in the east!
