Featuring an authentic reconstructed logging company town and 11 miles of historic railroad, Cass Scenic Railroad State Park is without a doubt a bucket-list-worthy adventure ... even (especially!) in winter, when this small town transforms into a West Virginia winter wonderland.
Many visitors automatically assume that spring, summer, or fall are the best times to visit this mountain perch. Spring, summer, and fall are admittedly excellent and beautiful times to tour Cass Scenic Railroad. But don't underestimate the magnificence and magic of Cass, West Virginia in the wintertime!
If you can brave the snow and the cold to venture out to Cass during the off-season, you'll discover a true winter wonderland.
As beautiful as spring, summer, and fall are here along the Greenbrier River, nothing beats the sight of a historic steam locomotive blazing a trail through fresh snow.
Nothing beats the immersive experience of a century-old town decked out for the hundredth time (or more) for Christmas.
Nothing beats a piping hot meal from The Last Run Restaurant and Soda Fountain as you watch snow fall gently out the window.
The winter season in Cass is from November 1 to March 31. Note that during this window of time, the Company Store is still open daily, but The Last Run Restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
