This Easy West Virginia Hiking Trail Delivers Big Views for a Romantic Valentine’s Day
With sweeping vista views, the Endless Wall Trail is the most romantic hiking trail in West Virginia.
Oh, Valentine’s Day — the infamous day of the year where you can boldly proclaim your undying love to your significant other, showering your loved one with bouquets of flowers, boxes of chocolates, and that perfect card it took you way too long to find in the store. One of my favorite ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day is with a romantic hiking trail. There’s nothing I love more than a scenic hiking trail, and this romantic hiking trail in West Virginia checks off all the boxes.
The Endless Wall Trail is one of the more popular hiking trails in West Virginia, so your best bet to having the trail to yourself is to start early in the morning or try for sunset. The sunset views along this trail are epic, so your wait will be rewarded! This loop trail near Lansing clocks in at 3.2 miles. It’s rated as easy on AllTrails, but there can be some steep sections.
Of course, this time of year does have a tendency to bring some snow and icy conditions, so make sure you’ve got the proper hiking gear before you set off. There is a free parking lot at the trailhead, which is always nice! Thankfully, you won’t have to climb steep elevation gains to get these views. This trail only has about 320 feet of elevation gain to it, so you’re getting those sweeping vistas practically from the trailhead.
The area is very popular for rock climbing, so you may see some rock climbers on your way. You won’t even remember them when you get to the famous Diamond Point overlook. The views here are one in a million. What a romantic view!
With great views of the New River below, this is a perfect spot to sit for a spell, have some trail snacks with your loved one, and enjoy the view together. Now would be the time to bust out those heart-shaped chocolates! You might even be inspired to pop the question right here! It is a great backdrop for a proposal, don't you think?
Depending on the wind, you might be able to hear the whitewater rafters 1,000 feet below! This romantic trail in West Virginia is one of my all-time favorite hiking trails in the state. You just can’t beat those views! And if you're looking for more ways to sweeten up this day, check out our itinerary planner for more romantic things to do nearby!
