This Secluded West Virginia Forest Lake Belongs In A Fairy Tale

The weather is warming up in West Virginia, and it's time to start thinking about day trips to some of our beautiful lakes. You might not have been to Lake Sherwood. It's one of West Virginia's best kept secrets! This picturesque lake in the middle of the Monongahela Forest has a beautiful beach area and small islands to explore. It's perfect for a family day trip.

Lake Sherwood is hidden away in the midst of Monongahela National Forest.

The beautiful lake takes up about 165 acres in Greenbrier County, with little islands throughout the lake providing sanctuaries for wildlife.

A bridge to one of the islands looks like something out of a storybook.

Visitors can cross the bridge and explore the island.

The lake also has a beach area, picnic areas, and places to go camping.

To get to Lake Sherwood from White Sulphur Springs, travel north on State Route 92 for 15 miles to Neola, West Virginia. Turn east (right) on State Route 14 and travel 11 miles to the lake.
