Everyone Should Take This Spectacular Holiday Trail Of Lights In West Virginia This Season

Welton Park in West Virginia hosts a free, community-driven holiday lights display known as the 'mini-Oglebay.'

Festive holiday events in West Virginia probably make most people think of the Christmas lights each year at Oglebay Park, or those events taking place each year in the Greenbrier Valley. However, that's only because most people don't know there's another amazing walk-through lights display that some people have called the 'mini-Oglebay' of West Virginia Christmas lights festivals.

It's found at Welton Park, a small 32-acre narrow swath of land in the scenic Petersburg Gap on the banks of the Potomac River.

What began years ago as a small display set up by Grant County's maintenance workers has blossomed into a community wide event, with volunteers helping to make the celebration bigger and better each year.

The paths are lined with thousands of lights and displays sure to inspire holiday cheer.

Locals look forward to the displays from year to year, and can easily spot the newest additions.

And visitors who drive from near and far appreciate the serene setting in the Petersburg Gap along the river as much as the lights themselves.

The best part? It's totally free!

Get in on the goodness beginning December 1 and lasting through December 31 at Welton Park. The address is 1979 Petersburg Gap Hwy., Petersburg, WV 26847.
