The Incredibly Unique Park That’s Right Here In West Virginia’s Own Backyard
West Virginia is home to many amazing state parks. Some are world-famous, like Babcock State Park and Blackwater Falls State Park, but there are lesser known state parks that are no less beautiful. Take a look at the natural wonders of Audra State Park near Buckhannon.
Audra State Park is situated along the Middle Fork River in Barbour County.
The park was formerly the site of an old grist mill.
You can still see the remains of the mill at the park.
The flat stones along the river make it a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing in the summer.
The riverside has drawn swimmers here for generations.
You can also cool off by taking a hike through the forest.
A boardwalk through the park leads to the above-ground Alum Cave.
With so much beauty around, you'll probably want to stay for a while.
Fortunately, Audra State Park has campsites, too!
For more information and directions, visit the state park website.
For another fascinating state park in West Virginia, take a look at Beartown State Park, full of intriguing rock formations.
