Olympic National Park is full of natural wonders. While many visitors flock to its more well-known spots, like the Hoh Rain Forest, there are plenty of gems that sometimes get overlooked. But everyone should see the Tree Root Cave in Washington, also known as the Tree of Life, at least once.
The Kalaloch Tree of Life is located near the Kalaloch Campground, about an hour southwest of the Hoh.
Of course, this is more of a miracle tree than a cave, although you can definitely step in. There's a little stream inside that flows into the ocean.
The tree is quite literally hanging by a limb.
For years, its thick, winding roots have kept it in place, although no one is quite sure how.
This part of the state is prone to strong winds and harsh weather, so it's pretty amazing that this cave hasn't caved in.
But the tree continues to grow, the leaves stay green, and Tree Root Cave photos continue to capture this rare natural phenomenon.
The tree cave is easily accessible requiring a very short hike...
So you don't need to sign up for Tree Root Cave tours - just make an effort to come visit this cool spot on the beach.
... and you'll have miles of sandy beach to enjoy while you're at it.
The Kalaloch Lodge is nearby, a perfect retreat for anyone who wants to stay overnight.
When you're exploring Olympic National Park, this one-of-a-kind natural wonder makes a perfect pit stop.
Step inside the cave and see it for yourself. Then take plenty of pictures of the Tree of Life.
The Tree of Life is different from other caves in Washington. But this natural wonder is no less fantastic. Have you ever seen the Tree Root Cave in Washington?
