The Skyline Trail at Mount Rainier National Park offers breathtaking views and is one of the most popular hikes in Washington.

If you can't find a hiking trail you love in the state of Washington, you probably just don't like hiking. From our short, brisk nature walks through the woods to our scenic coastal treks, there's a trail for every experience level and preference. But when it comes to breathtaking views and iconic spots, it's tough to top the Skyline Trail at Mount Rainier National Park.

When most people think of the iconic Skyline Trail, this is the image that comes to mind.

This just happens to be one of the most photographed parts of Mount Rainier National Park.

But the truth is, this trail is about six miles long, and the waterfall is just one small part of it.

The trailhead is located near Paradise Inn, and it's ranked as moderate. If you can handle a six-mile hike, you'll probably love this one.

The trail winds through alpine meadows, wildflowers (when in season), and the broad Edith Creek basin, leading to some tall peaks.

While the climb is gradual, it can be tough at times. Spikes and poles are recommended during the snowy season, which can last until June.

If you're lucky, you might even spot some wildlife along the way.

It certainly isn't uncommon.

As you make the climb, don't forget to turn around now and then and look behind you to see how far you've come.

The views are remarkable in every direction.

Eventually, you'll be treated to some of the best views of the mountain we've ever seen.

It's really no wonder why this is one of the most popular hikes in the park, which is really saying something.

The Skyline Trail is a loop, so all you'll have to do is follow the signs.

While the trail is open for most of the year (weather permitting), this path is definitely best taken in the summer.

Do you agree that the Skyline Trail has some of the most stunning views in the state?
