We Did the Research, This Is Officially the Funniest Hiking Trail Name in Washington
You may giggle during your entire climb on the Poo Poo Point Trail.
With hundreds of hiking trails around Washington State, you are bound to find some unusual, odd, and downright weird hiking trail names. However, after researching hiking trails in the Evergreen State for years, I have officially found the most bizarre trail name — one that will make you laugh out loud. It is the Poo Poo Point Trail near Issaquah. However, despite the crazy name, this trail is popular and beautiful. I believe it deserves a spot on your bucket list.
Yes, the Poo Poo Point Trail may make you giggle. However, the name has a story behind it, and it dates back more than a century in the logging industry. To communicate with one another up and down the hill, loggers would use whistles. The whistle noise would make a sound that sounded like “poo poo.”
While you won’t hear loggers whistle today, you can put on your favorite pair of hiking boots and tackle the Poo Poo Point Trail. This hike is located in the Tiger Mountain State Forest and is known for its incredible scenery. There are a few different routes to Poo Poo Point you can take, but for the trail in this article, you’ll start near a parking lot off 2nd Avenue SE, near the Rainier Greenway Trail.
Your climb will begin with inclines that are quite gentle. However, as you continue your trek, they’ll become much steeper. Fortunately, you’ll hike through such natural beauty that you’ll be distracted by the views. You’ll walk through forests, meadows, and clearings. You’ll also cross over several creeks where you can enjoy the sound of flowing water.
You may even want to stop for a while and watch the paragliders soar through the sky. Poo Poo Point is a popular place for this sport. Or, if you time your hike just right, you can capture a spectacular sunrise. Of course, you can also just sit back, rest, and enjoy views of the city after your long climb. This is a hike where the name may be a little unusual and silly, but the natural beauty is incredible.
This is the type of hiking trail that will make you fall in love with the Evergreen State all over again. Have you ever hiked the Poo Poo Trail near Issaquah?
