The Washington Hiking Trail You’ve Never Heard Of But Must Experience

Since Washington is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, it may seem as if all of our beautiful hiking trails are always packed with people. But that's not always the case, especially if you're willing to hike a trail that is a little more challenging than most.

The Margaret Lake Trail is a bit of a hidden gem, and the 5.5-mile journey will leave you breathless in more ways than one.

Margaret Lake Trail is located in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest near the town of Easton.

To reach it, take I-90 E (from Seattle) or W to Exit 54. Take a left off the interstate, a right on FSR 4832, and hang a left on on FSR 4934, which takes you to a parking area.

The trail is incredibly steep at times, but the views are worth it.

The scenery on this trail is so spectacular, it looks like a postcard.

Eventually, you'll come to the beautiful Margaret Lake.

The lake is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim (weather permitting) or have a picnic lunch on the banks.

This trail is at its best from June-September, so you still have time this summer to make it happen.

Don't forget to get a good glimpse of Mount Rainier in the distance.

This is assuming, of course, that the "mountain is out" that day.

The Margaret Lake Trail is gorgeous, but it definitely isn't easy. If you're more of a novice hiker, try one of these beautiful trails under 3 miles.
